Anarchists pelted stones at a group of kanwariyas near the place of worship in Bareilly's Jogi Nawada on Sunday afternoon. Some people and women got hurt in this incident. Going a little further in protest, the Kanwariyas started demonstrating on the road. They shouted slogans alleging the incident on the instigation of the former councillor. The force and RAF of many police stations reached the spot. The officers also assured the arrest of the former corporator, but the Kanwariyas did not agree. The uproar continued till five in the evening.
From Gopal Nagar Ward 48, Jogi goes to Vankhandinath Temple of Nawada to collect water at Kachla Gangaghat and perform Jalabhishek in this temple. Around 2.15 pm on Sunday afternoon, a batch of four thousand Kanwariyas in about 30 vehicles moved towards the temple from Gopalnagar. There were also women and children in the group. When the group came out from near a place of worship in Jogi Nawada, some gulal flew and went to the other side. The people present near the place of worship got angry on this matter. The youths of the other side pelted stones. Stones were pelted at the kanwariyas from the terrace as well.

Women and children present in the trolleys, including Sandeep Sharma, who were part of the Kanwar team, were pelted with stones. After this the atmosphere deteriorated. Some policemen including Baradari police station in-charge Abhishek Singh and Jogi Nawada outpost in-charge were present here. He tried to convince the people but they did not agree. The kanwariyas went a little ahead and blocked the vehicles in the street and started protesting there by closing the road.
Adamant on extracting kanwar again
The Kanwariyas demanded that the incident took place at the behest of former councilor Usman. Usman was present at the time of the incident, he should be arrested. After some time SP City Rahul Bhati told these people that Usman has been arrested, then these people started insisting to bring him on the spot. With difficulty, these people came to the temple. Here he insisted that by taking him again near the place of worship, the Kanwar Yatra should be taken out from there. However, the officials did not agree to this.
SP City Rahul Bhati told that the report will be registered on the basis of Tahrir of Kanwar passengers. Former councilor Usman has been taken into custody. The situation is not clear regarding the cause of the incident. CCTV footage is being extracted, action will be taken according to the extent of the fault.
