Many houses have been damaged due to cloudburst in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Farms and gardens have been washed away and roads have been destroyed.

Heavy rains, cloud bursts and overflowing rivers and streams continue to wreak havoc in different parts of the country including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Telangana. Many houses have been damaged due to cloudburst in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Farms and gardens have been washed away and roads have been destroyed. Traffic on the Jammu to Pathankot highway is in a mess as several bridges were washed away due to rain. On the other hand, due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand, traffic was blocked due to falling of boulders and debris at many places including the Yamunotri Highway. A 50 meter portion of the Badrinath Highway has caved in near the Lambagad drain. The Badrinath highway is blocked due to falling of stones from the hill ahead of Baba Ashram Karnprayag.

Delhi: Fluctuations continue in Yamuna

New Delhi. The water level of Yamuna continues to fluctuate in the national capital. On Saturday, around 12 noon, the water level came down below the danger mark of 205.33 metres, but after some time the water level started rising again which crossed the danger mark at 3 pm. At seven in the evening, it again came down to 205.32 meters.

Drought conditions in 40 districts of UP

Lucknow: Due to deficient rains, a drought-like situation has arisen in 40 out of 75 districts of UP. Most of these districts are from Eastern UP. The remaining 35 have received normal or above rainfall. Due to lack of rain, the farmers engaged in the preparation of transplanting and sowing of paddy and maize crops have started worrying.

Heavy rain warning for four to five days across the country

Moderate to heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over the next four to five days in almost all parts of the country. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rains in Bihar and Odisha and a yellow alert for the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and the Northeast. Torrential rain lashed various parts of the country on Saturday as well.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), most parts of northwest India, including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, East Rajasthan, are likely to receive light, moderate and heavy to very heavy rainfall till August 2. Heavy rain is expected to continue over the region of Chhattisgarh, East and West Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha in central India for the next four days.

Water entered the markets in Jaipur, roads jammed

Heavy rains in Jaipur led to water-logging at various places, water entering markets and long traffic jams on the roads. In Jaipur, Sikar Road and Jal Mahal areas have been flooded due to torrential rains since Friday night. Apart from this, water has also accumulated in the SMS Hospital premises.

Himachal Pradesh

632 power transformers stalled… In Himachal Pradesh, 419 roads, including three National Highways, have been blocked for traffic due to landslides and debris at various places due to torrential rains and floods. Maximum 177 roads are obstructed in Shimla district and 123 in Kullu. 632 power transformers have failed.

Jammu and Kashmir

In the Jammu and Kashmir division, the rains are continuously becoming a hindrance in the traffic in the hilly areas. Rainy drains and rivers are in spate in both the divisions due to the rains on Friday night and Saturday morning. Chopper service to Maa Vaishno Devi Bhavan was affected due to inclement weather in Katra.

Uttarakhand

Due to heavy rains, traffic on the Yamunotri National Highway was disrupted for several hours due to boulders and debris falling at many places including Dabarkot-Jharjhargad. Gangotri Highway was closed due to debris coming in Swarigad and Sungar. A 50 meter portion of the Badrinath Highway has caved in near the Lambagad drain. Many passengers are stranded.

Haryana

Two farmers were washed away in Ghaggar river in Sirsa, out of which one was rescued safely, search is on for the other. Many dhanis of Fatehabad district are still waterlogged. At present 12,100 cusecs of water is flowing in the Chandpura siphon. The capacity of this siphon is 22 thousand cusecs. Humid heat has increased once again after rains in Kaithal.

Assam

The central team is taking stock of the damage caused by the rains and floods in the state. The team has asked the state government to inform about the damage to infrastructure due to the floods.
