PM Modi will launch Amrit Bharat Station scheme today, 508 stations in the country will be renovated

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch Amrit Bharat Station Scheme through video conference today. Programs will be organized at the stations for this scheme of renovation of 508 stations across the country simultaneously. Central ministers, MPs and MLAs of the area will be present in this. Railway officials will reiterate the commitment of the Central Government to realize the dream of New India. This grand event will be telecast live on these stations. The way people listen to the mind of the Prime Minister, in the same way people will be aware of the entire plan of the Railways by installing big screens at the stations.

According to Shobhan Chowdhary, General Manager, Northern Railway, it is one of the largest and busiest railway networks in the world, providing an important means of transport for millions of people, connecting thousands of cities and towns in the country. The process of modernization of Indian Railways is going on for the last nine years. Under this, efforts are being made to improve infrastructure, technology and passenger facilities. The ambitious plan includes a wide range of activities such as refurbishing railway stations, laying new railway lines, 100 per cent electrification and enhancing the safety of passengers and assets.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the 'Amrit Bharat Station Yojana' across India with the launch of redevelopment works of 508 stations, out of which 71 railway stations are in the Northern Railway zone. In view of this, Railways will organize programs in Delhi Cantt, Delhi Sabzi Mandi and Narela.

24470 crore will be the cost of the project

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement that the cost of the redevelopment project would be Rs 24,470 crore and it would provide modern amenities to commuters. The railway stations for which the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for redevelopment include 55 each in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, 49 in Bihar, 44 in Maharashtra, 37 in West Bengal, 34 in Madhya Pradesh, 32 in Assam, 25 in Odisha, 22 in Punjab, Gujarat and Telangana have 21 each, Jharkhand 20, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu 18 each, Haryana 15 and Karnataka 13.

Giving priority to world class facilities

The PMO said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi often stresses on provision of state-of-the-art public transport and railways is the preferred mode of transport of people. He has given priority to the importance of providing world class facilities at railway stations. With this approach, the 'Amrit Bharat Station Scheme' was launched for the redevelopment of 1,309 stations. Under the plan, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 stations.

Will be developed as city center

Under this, master plans are being prepared to develop these stations as 'city centres' with proper integration of both the sides of the city, the PMO said. This integrated approach is inspired by the city's holistic approach to overall urban development, centered around the railway station.
