Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has filed a petition in Mumbai's Andheri Magistrate Court seeking a bailable warrant against lyricist Javed Akhtar in a criminal intimidation case. As per reports, the actress is seeking the warrant for allegedly 'willfully' failing to appear before the court and neglecting the hearing. Javed Akhtar was summoned to appear in the court on 5 August. However, his lawyer Jai Bhardwaj requested not to appear in the court citing urgent medical condition of one of his family members.
Kangana Ranaut's lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui opposed this and brought up a similar instance during Javed's trial against the actress. Thus urged a bailable warrant against the lyricist. As per reports, Rizwan has claimed that since Javed Akhtar has deliberately not appeared before the court, a warrant should be issued in the interest of justice.
However, after hearing the arguments of both the sides, the court decided to stay the petition. In return, Javed Akhtar gets a chance to follow the bail procedures for his next hearing. Let me tell you, Javed Akhtar had approached a sessions court in Mumbai on Friday against the summons issued against him by a magistrate in a case filed by actress Kangana Ranaut. He claimed that the order was passed in haste and improper manner resulting in grave miscarriage of justice. The hearing in this matter is to be held on August 8.
