In a tweet, PM Modi said, along with 140 crore people of India, I pay tribute to the prodigious genius Atal ji on his death anniversary.

On the death anniversary of late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a prayer meeting was organized at his samadhi 'Sadaiv Atal' today. President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar paid tribute to him by offering flowers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid floral tributes to former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary on Wednesday morning at the 'Sadaiv Atal' memorial.

Rajnath, Shah and Gadkari also paid tribute

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari paid floral tributes at the 'Sadaiv Atal' memorial on the death anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh also paid floral tributes at the 'Always Atal' memorial on Atal Bihari Vajpayee's death anniversary. Namita Kaul Bhattacharya, the foster daughter of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, also paid floral tributes at the 'Sadaiv Atal' memorial on his death anniversary.

NDA leaders paid tribute

NCP leader Praful Patel, Union Minister and Apna Dal (Sonilal) leader Anupriya Patel and HAM leader Jitan Ram Manjhi along with other NDA leaders paid floral tributes at the 'Sadaiv Atal' memorial on Atal Bihari Vajpayee's death anniversary. After paying tribute, Union Minister Anupriya Patel said, the opposition is desperate and disappointed. He knows that even in 2024, the people of the country will not trust him and there is no scope for his return to power. That's why the frustrated opposition is saying anything. But the people of the country have full faith in the leadership of PM Modi and in 2024 the NDA will make a hat-trick.

Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said after paying tribute to Vajpayee at the 'Sadaiv Atal' memorial, many people had come here to pay tribute. Our NDA colleagues also came here in large numbers as he was a man of rich personality.

Died on August 16 in 2018

Born in Gwalior in 1924, Vajpayee was the face of the BJP for decades and was the first non-Congress prime minister to complete his term. Vajpayee served as the Prime Minister of India from 16 May 1996 to 1 June 1996 and again from 19 March 1998 to 22 May 2004. He also served as India's Minister of External Affairs from 1977 to 1979 in Prime Minister Moraji Desai's cabinet. He died in 2018 on August 16 at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi.

After coming to power in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that his birthday, 25 December every year, would be celebrated as Good Governance Day to honor former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna recipient Atal ji.
