BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla has made it clear that no change in schedule is possible. He has said that the problems will be solved.

The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has termed it difficult to host two matches in two days during the ODI World Cup starting October 5 in India, saying it is not an ideal situation due to organizational and security reasons. He had hoped that one day relief would be given. After his statement, it seemed that there would be a change in the schedule of the ODI World Cup once again. However, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has made it clear that no change in schedule is possible. He has said that the problems will be solved.

Rajeev Shukla's statement

In an official statement, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla has said that no further changes are likely as it requires the involvement of multiple stakeholders. He said- I am in charge of the Hyderabad venue for the World Cup. If there is any issue or some matter, I will try to solve it. Changing the World Cup schedule is not easy and is unlikely to happen. Only BCCI cannot change the schedule. The teams, the ICC, everyone is involved.

There has been a change in the World Cup schedule once

After much delay, the schedule of the World Cup was announced in June this year. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the ICC (International Cricket Council) earlier this month changed the schedule of nine matches, which included the big clash between India and Pakistan. The match between India and Pakistan was postponed a day earlier to 14 October. Apart from this, Pakistan's match against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad was shifted from 12 October to 10 October. The HCA is also hosting the New Zealand vs Netherlands match earlier on October 9. The Hyderabad Police had objected to providing security for two consecutive matches.

What did the HCA official say?

An HCA official said on the condition of confidentiality – I cannot say that it will be changed for sure, but hosting two matches in two days is not an ideal situation. I mean if they (BCCI) reconsider it would be good. We have to work with the security agencies. One would want a day off between two World Cup matches. We are still in talks with the security agencies whether it is possible or not. Along with this, we are also informing the BCCI about this. The BCCI is fully aware of what we are trying to do.

Extra security for Pakistan team

Hyderabad Police appoints two to two and a half thousand police personnel for any international match. This official said – The deployment of police depends on the risk assessment regarding the match and also on the number of spectators. Police assesses and deploys accordingly. Given Pakistan's participation in one of these matches, security is expected to be beefed up.

Pakistani team will come to India for the first time after 2016

Pakistan team will play in India for the first time after 2016 T20 World Cup. The team will have a long stay in Hyderabad as it has to play two World Cup matches and two warm-up matches at the same venue. The team will open its World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on October 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Tickets for the World Cup go on sale starting August 25, leaving most cricket fans with enough time to plan their trip.
