Luna 25 crash: 'The main reason for failure...', says Russian space agency chief on Moon mission failure
Yuri Borisov said that what our scientists had learned by mistake in the 1960s and 1970s, they forgot because of the long stay of the mission.
Russia's Moon mission has suffered a major setback. Russia's hopes of reaching the moon are over as its spacecraft Luna-25 has crashed. However, Yuri Borisov, the head of Russia's space agency Roscosmos, has vowed to stay in the race to reach the Moon.
The reason given
Yuri Borisov says that the mission to reach the moon will not be stopped under any circumstances. Aborting the mission would be the worst decision. The space agency chief attributed the failure of Luna-25 to the country's long wait. He said that the failure of Luna-25 is the main reason for stopping the mission to reach the moon for about 50 years.
He said that whatever mistakes our scientists had learned in the 1960s and 1970s were forgotten due to the long stay of the mission. It is clear from Yuri Borisov that if the mission had not been stopped for so many decades, Luna-25 would not have crashed today. The experiences gained earlier could be used.
Mission named 'Luna-Globe'
The Luna-25 lander was launched from Russia's Vostoni Cosmodrome at 4.40 am on August 11. Luna-25 was sent to the moon in a Soyuz 2.1B rocket. It was named the Luna-Globe mission. The length of the rocket was about 46.3 meters, while its diameter was 10.3 meters. Russia's space agency Roscosmos had said that Luna-25 has left for the moon. For five days it will move towards the moon. After this, the rocket weighing 313 tonnes will revolve around the moon for 7-10 days. However, now Luna-25 has crashed.
Chandrayaan-3 was expected to land before
It was expected that Luna-25 would reach the lunar surface on 21 or 22 August. At the same time, Chandrayaan-3 was launched by India on 14 July, which will land on the moon on 23 August. The time of landing on the moon of Luna-25 and Chandrayaan-3 was going to be almost the same. Luna would have landed on the lunar surface a few hours earlier. Russia had earlier landed Luna-24 on the moon in 1976. All the moon missions that have happened in the world so far have reached the moon's equator.
