The epicenter of the earthquake was in Al Hauz of Tarodant state and it is there that the maximum number of people lost their lives. One person told that as soon as the earthquake occurred, there was unbearable screaming. People started running here and there and a stampede broke out. The person said that people are still scared and sleeping on the streets. Many footage are also going viral on social media, in which people are seen running here and there in disarray.
People are still in shock in the affected areas after the earthquake. The Moroccan government said that resources have been collected and help has been sent to the affected areas. People have been appealed to donate blood. The army has started treating people by building a field hospital. The earthquake has caused huge damage in Morocco but it is still being assessed.
Foreign leaders expressed grief
Foreign leaders have also expressed condolences for those killed in Morocco. PM Modi had expressed condolences towards Morocco during the G20 meeting on Saturday itself. Now US President Joe Biden has also issued a statement saying that he is saddened by the loss of life and property caused by the earthquake in Morocco and has promised all possible help to the Moroccan government.
