Anantnag encounter: Firing again in Kokernag, Para commando also in the field, terrorist Uzair Khan on target

According to information received from sources, para commandos have also been deployed in the field to eliminate the terrorists hiding in the area. Jammu and Kashmir Police said that two terrorists including Uzair Khan have been surrounded in the area. Both the terrorists are said to be associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba. It is being told that firing has started at the spot.
Three security force officers, including an army colonel, were martyred during the encounter here on Wednesday. Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish, DSP Humayun Bhat of Jammu and Kashmir Police were seriously injured in the firing, after which all three attained martyrdom.
Who is terrorist Uzair Khan?
It is being told that Uzair Khan is a local terrorist, who is a resident of Nagam village of Kokernag. He had joined the terrorist organization in June 2022. He is associated with the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The official said on Wednesday that a joint team of police and army cordoned off and conducted a search operation in Halura Gandul area of Kokarnag in Anantnag. As the joint team moved towards the suspected spot, the terrorists already hiding there started firing on the forces, leading to an encounter. During the firing, an army officer and a police officer were shot. Both the injured were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment, but they could not be saved.
