Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday targeted senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram. Dhankhar said that it is shameful to convert people's ignorance into political equality. He also said that he has no words to express his pain over the comments made by a senior member of the Rajya Sabha, who was a Union Minister, on the Women's Reservation Act.

In his remarks without naming Chidambaram, he termed it a distorted mentality and asked whether a plant planted today will start bearing fruits immediately or whether a person will get a degree immediately after joining the institute. It is shameful to convert people's ignorance into political equality. He said today's youth will have to fight this because they have access to information.

It is noteworthy that this reaction of Dhankhar has come on the statement of the Congress leader in which he had said that even though the bill has become a law, it will not be actually implemented for many years. This is just an illusion, brought by the government. Former Finance Minister Chidambaram had tweeted that the government has claimed that the Women's Reservation Bill has become a law. What is the use of a law which will not be implemented for years? Certainly this law will not be implemented before the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. It's just teasing. Just like the shadow of the moon is visible in a bowl of water. This law introduced by the Central Government is just an election gimmick.

Was passed in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on this day

The 128th Constitution Amendment Bill related to women's reservation was passed in the Rajya Sabha on September 21. 214 votes were cast in favor of the bill, while no one voted against the bill. Earlier on September 20, the bill had got approval from the Lok Sabha. Lok Sabha also passed this bill with two-thirds majority. 454 votes were cast in its favor and two against it. A day earlier, President Draupadi Murmu signed the bill, after which the bill has become law.
