The production house has responded to rumors of bankrolling Sunny Deol's next film 'Lahore 1947', to be directed by ace filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi.

Aamir Khan-Sunny Deol collaboration confirmed

Aamir Khan's production house has confirmed the long-running rumors through a social media post. The production house has made it clear that Aamir Khan will bankroll Sunny Deol's next film 'Lahore 1947'. At the announcement, Aamir Khan expressed his excitement about the project. He wrote, 'I and the entire team of AKP are very excited and happy to announce our next film, starring Sunny Deol in the lead role, and the name of the film is Lahore 1947.'

Raj Kumar Santoshi will be the director of 'Lahore 1947'

The post further reads, 'We are looking forward to collaborating with the extremely talented Sunny and favorite director Raj Santoshi. The journey we have embarked on promises to be the most enriching one. An interesting twist in this collaboration is the history between Rajkumar Santoshi, Sunny Deol and Aamir Khan. Interestingly, Santoshi made her directorial debut with Sunny Deol's 1990 film 'Ghayal'. This film was a huge success at the box office. The pair later delivered two more blockbusters, including 'Damini' (1993) and 'Ghatak' (1996).

Sunny Deol ready for another hit

Rajkumar Santoshi has also given the huge hit film 'Andaz Apna Apna' (1994) with Aamir Khan. The film, which also starred Salman Khan in the lead role, became a cult classic. Sunny's last release 'Gadar 2' was a huge success at the box office. The film broke many box office records. After 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' broke box office records, the film ousted Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathan' from the top spot as it earned Rs 524.75 crore in its seventh week. This film is just a few crores ahead of 'Pathan', which had collected Rs 524.53 crore in the Hindi speaking market.
