12506 Train Accident: Four including mother and daughter died due to derailment of North East Express

A mother, daughter, another woman and a man were among the dead in the North East Express that derailed on Wednesday night.

In the derailment of 12506 North East Express near Raghunathpur station of Buxar in Bihar on Wednesday night, it is coming to light that the track of the train was already damaged. All 24 bogies of this train derailed at around 9.30 pm on Wednesday night. Eight of these bogies had completely collapsed. Two of these eight bogies collided with each other and fell down the slope. Death of four including mother and daughter has been confirmed in the accident. So far, information about injuries to about 200 passengers has come to light, out of which about 70 are seriously injured. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, relief work is going on war footing at the incident site in Buxar. NDRF, SDRF, district administration, railway officials and local people are working as a team. Railway War Room has also started work.

Those who died in the train accident include Deepak Bhandari's wife Usha Bhandari (33), his daughter Aakriti Bhandari (8). The entire family was going to Kamakhya Junction from Anand Vihar Terminal. Deepak himself and his other daughter Aditi have survived the accident. They are in bad condition and crying. Apart from these, Kishanganj resident Abu Zahid (27) and another unknown person have also died.

 Railways did not reveal the number of casualties

After the accident of train number 12506 North East Express near Raghunathpur station of Danapur division at around 21.35 pm on Wednesday night, a huge crowd gathered at the spot. Common people got involved in relief work. The incident site is away from the urban area. More than 50 people have been seriously injured. The injured are being evacuated, only after that the real picture will emerge. Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway, Virendra Kumar said that the accident relief vehicle along with the medical team and officers has left for the spot. The Railways has not officially disclosed the number of casualties, but rescue workers at the scene said that five people were rescued who were not breathing. The remaining injured were immediately sent for first aid.

Union Minister said – Death of four people is very sad

Union Minister Ashwini Choubey said that a very tragic incident happened. By the grace of Baba Brahmeshwar Nath, despite such a big incident, the lives of many people were saved. The death of four people is extremely sad. Many people are injured. I am continuously talking to the Railway Minister and Railway officials. I thank the public for their immense cooperation. BJP workers got involved in relief and rescue work since night. Appropriate compensation will be provided to the victim's family. I am in touch with the hospital where the injured are admitted.

Eyewitness said- God saved his life

After the accident, the train passenger said that he was boarding the train from Deendayal Upadhyay station to Patna. The speed of the train was normal. Suddenly Boginya started shaking. The loud noise continued for about two minutes along with the sound of thunder. At first we thought some animal might have collided with the train. Within some time the train stopped running. The car stopped moving. The train went down from the tracks. The accident was so severe that many people became unconscious in the bogie itself. It seemed as if everything had come to a standstill. But, God saved our lives. Later information was received that many people had died.

Many trains were stopped, many diverted

Many trains running on this route have been stopped while many trains are being operated by changing their routes. Whereas train numbers 15125 and 15126 BSBS-PNBE Janshatabdi train have been cancelled. Railway team is diverting the route of many trains coming from Deen Dayal Upadhyay and sending them through DDU-Sasram-Ara and DDU-Gaya-Patna routes. There is a possibility that Railways will change the routes of half a dozen trains including Vibhuti Express, Guwahati-Rajdhani Express, Seemanchal Express and Punjab Mail. After the accident, Seemanchal Express at Dildarnagar, Memo Passenger at Darauli, Sikkim Mahananda Express stopped at Dheena. Apart from this, other trains including Pune Danapur, Baba Baidhnath Express, Vikramshila Express are standing at DDU Junction. Sanjay Prasad, traffic inspector of Dildarnagar section, said that due to derailment of North East Express at Raghunathpur station in Bihar, trains are standing in the down line. Operations will start only after the track is cleared.
