Punjab: Sharing edited video of Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwat Mann was costly, Akali leader Bunty Romana arrested

Shiromani Akali Dal leader Parambans Singh alias Bunty Romana was arrested by the Mataur police of Mohali on Thursday on the complaint of cyber cell. He is accused of sharing an objectionable video related to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on social media. The lyrics of the song have been tampered with in the video. Police have registered a case against him under sections 468, 469, 500 of IPC and sections 43 and 66 of IT Act.

At the same time, after the arrest, Akali Dal has come into action. Party President Sukhbir Singh Badal reached the office of Mohali SSP and termed this action as politics of revenge and registered his protest. Badal said that no case has been registered yet in the assistant professor suicide case. At the same time, a case was registered in this matter even before 24 hours. However, SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg was not in the office. After this, Sukhbir Badal spoke to him on phone and protested against the arrest of Bunty Romana. Meanwhile, Akali leaders have started gathering outside Mataur police station. For security reasons, the police closed the gate of the police station and no one is being allowed inside.

Bunty Romana posted this controversial video of one minute and 27 seconds on X on October 25 at 4:29 pm. It has received more than 20 thousand views in 24 hours. The video featured the voice of famous Punjabi singer Kanwar Grewal and the lyrics of the song were "Teri Kejriwal Naal Yaari Oye... Taiyo (Your) Mat (Wisdom) Gayi Hai Maari Oye...".

It has been revealed that this is a video of an event held in UK in 2014 and someone edited it and uploaded it on his channel. After this it went viral. Whereas, when Bunty Romana shared this, she was arrested. Sukhbir Badal said that instead of arresting Romana, arrest the person who edited the video.

After the video went viral and the Punjab government raised objection, Punjabi singer Kanwar Grewal gave clarification through a video. He has clarified that the voice and lyrics of the song in the video of one of his programs have been changed. The voice in this song is not his.

Bunty Romana (48) has been the coordinator of SOI All India. He is a senior leader of Akali Dal. In the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, he also contested the Faridkot seat on Akali Dal ticket but lost to Aam Aadmi Party candidate Gurditt Singh Sekhon.
