Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra will appear before the Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha on November 2 in the case of taking bribe for asking questions in Parliament. The TMC MP said on Tuesday that she will appear before the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee on November 2. He expressed his desire to cross-examine businessman Darshan Hiranandani on the allegations made in the case. Earlier, Moitra had demanded a hearing date after November 5, but the committee had refused to give a date beyond November 2.
Moitra on Tuesday questioned whether the Ethics Committee was the appropriate forum to investigate the alleged allegations. Parliamentary committees lack criminal jurisdiction and he stressed the importance of involving law enforcement agencies in such cases. She said that while registering my protest, I want to tell you that I will honor the summons and appear before the committee on November 2, 2023 at 11 am.
