With the new year, the Kerala government is going to launch an unprecedented initiative called K-Smart on January 1, 2024. CM Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the project on January 1 at 10:30 am in Kaloor, Kochi. The project aims to create digital access to services provided by local self-government bodies across the state.
This means that now citizens can avail services from various local bodies without coming to the office. K-Smart App will simplify the process by allowing online submission of applications and complaints. Now receipts will be provided to the complainants through WhatsApp, email and log-in.
Addressing a press conference, Local Self Government Minister MB Rajesh said that K-Smart with its 35 different modules will ease local services in Kerala. This includes registration of birth, death and marriage, driving license, property tax. Now citizens can access these services through a web portal by simply logging in and providing some information. The first phase of K-Smart will be launched in corporations and municipalities, after which it will be taken up to the gram panchayat level.
