Vistara undertakes measures to alleviate pilot shortage challenges, including reducing flights and deploying larger aircraft.

Amidst Vistara's pilot shortage crisis, relief is on the horizon for passengers as the airline takes decisive actions to mitigate disruptions. In response to the mass leave taken by Vistara pilots, resulting in flight delays and cancellations, the airline has implemented several measures to alleviate passenger inconvenience.

To address the staffing shortage, Vistara has trimmed its flight schedule by reducing 25 to 30 flights. Additionally, the airline has devised a strategy to deploy larger aircraft with greater passenger capacity on domestic routes.

The situation has shown signs of improvement compared to previous disruptions. Recently, Air India announced plans to lend assistance by potentially seconding around 30 pilots operating smaller A320 aircraft to Vistara. Following these interventions, Vistara issued a statement indicating a positive trajectory towards normalization, with expectations set for mid-April.

However, while Vistara finds respite, Air India faced its own challenges as aircraft technician staff threatened to go on strike. The organization representing these employees, All India Engineering Services Limited (AIESL), had initially planned a strike for April 23. However, after negotiations addressing grievances related to salary revision and promotion, AIESL has decided to withdraw the strike call.

AIESL management has committed to revising technical employees' salaries in accordance with previous conditions, a development aimed at averting potential disruptions in Air India's operations.
