Security Forces Recover Two Cane Bombs Days Before Lok Sabha Elections in Jamui

Security forces discover two cane bombs in Jamui forest days before Lok Sabha elections. Timely action neutralizes potential threat, ensuring safety during the electoral process.

Just four days prior to the commencement of voting in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections, security forces have made a significant recovery in Jamui, uncovering two cane bombs along a forest road. Each bomb weighs approximately three and a half kilograms. The discovery was made during a search operation aimed at combating Naxalite activities, conducted jointly by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Charkapathar police station in the forested and hilly regions near Karmachatar village amidst the Kathawar forest.

Amidst the anti-Naxal operation, a hideout was detected, leading to a meticulous exploration of the area by security forces. During the search, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), each encased in separate cans weighing 3.5 kilograms, along with additional explosive material, were found concealed in a pit. The cache also included two electric detonators, two power water explosives, and 17 meters of electric wire. Upon discovery, the bomb disposal squad was immediately informed, and with proper precautions, both cane bombs were safely neutralized through controlled detonation.

Remaining explosive material was seized, and further investigation is underway. The first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Jamui district is scheduled for April 19. To ensure the electoral process proceeds peacefully and securely, security forces continue to conduct search operations in the forested and hilly terrains of the district. Acting on actionable intelligence, the joint team of SSB and District Police executed this operation. It is suspected that the Naxalites intended to deploy these IEDs to target security personnel patrolling the forested areas.

The police department released a statement acknowledging the guidance of Jamui SP Shaurya Suman and SSB 16th Corps Commandant Manish Kumar, under whose direction SP Operation Omkar Nath Singh and SSB Assistant Commandant Ashish Vaishnav led the search operation, resulting in this significant success.
