A laborer from Bihar becomes the victim of a terrorist attack in Kashmir Valley, raising concerns about security ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Amidst the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a tragic incident unfolded in the Kashmir Valley as terrorists struck once again, claiming the life of a laborer from Bihar. According to police reports, the victim, identified as Raju Shah, was fatally shot by terrorists in the Jabalipora area of Bijbehara in Anantnag district on Wednesday. The assailants targeted Shah at close range, inflicting serious injuries that proved fatal. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Shah succumbed to his injuries.

The unfortunate incident occurred in the Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency, where the third phase of voting is scheduled for May 7. This attack adds to the ongoing security concerns in the region. On the same day, security forces arrested two suspected terrorists in Anantnag district and seized arms and ammunition from their possession, as confirmed by the army.

The Srinagar-based Army's Chinar Corps disclosed on social media that a joint operation was conducted by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Naina, Bijbehara, Anantnag, based on specific intelligence received on April 17. Subsequently, two suspects were apprehended, and a cache of weapons, including a firearm and a hand grenade, along with other materials, was confiscated. Investigations into the matter are underway, as security forces continue to maintain vigilance in the volatile region.
