President Draupadi Murmu has honored several distinguished individuals with Padma awards, including former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, in a ceremony held today.

President Draupadi Murmu bestowed Padma awards upon several notable personalities, including former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, during a ceremony held on Monday. The event saw the conferment of three Padma Vibhushan, eight Padma Bhushan, and 56 Padma Shri awards. Former Vice President Naidu was honored with the Padma Vibhushan, while Bharatnatyam dancer Padma Subramaniam from Tamil Nadu and Sulabh International founder Bindeshwar Pathak (posthumously) also received the Padma Vibhushan.

Other recipients of the Padma Bhushan included actor Mithun Chakraborty, philanthropist and industrialist Sitaram Jindal, Dr. Young-Wei Liu, singer Usha Uthup, Prof. (Dr.) Tejas Madhusudan Patel, actor Rajdutt, Dr. Chandeshwar Prasad Thakur, and former Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik. Additionally, 56 individuals were honored with the Padma Shri.

The ceremony, attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other dignitaries, underscored the significance of the Padma Awards, among the nation's highest civilian honors. These awards, announced annually on the eve of Republic Day, recognize exemplary contributions in various fields, with the presentation ceremony following suit.
