Union Home Minister Amit Shah Slams Congress Over Opposition to Legal Reforms

Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticizes Congress for opposing legal reforms initiated by PM Modi, emphasizing BJP commitment to empowering the common people and securing their rights.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has emphasized the transformative steps taken by the BJP government under PM Modi's leadership, heralding a new era of Indianness within the legal framework. He highlighted the historic abolition of archaic laws dating back 150 years, which have been ingrained in the fabric of the nation. Despite these progressive changes, Shah criticized the Congress for clinging to an outdated mindset, accusing them of perpetuating a “slavery mentality.”

Shah asserted that the BJP's commitment to empowering the common people through legislation remains steadfast, despite opposition from Congress leaders. He categorically stated that Congress would never regain power, nor would the pro-people laws enacted by the BJP government be repealed. In response to Congress leader P Chidambaram's remarks about repealing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Shah reaffirmed the government's dedication to protecting the rights of oppressed communities, including Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Christians, and Sikhs.

After the initial phase of voting, Shah expressed confidence in the electorate's resolute support for the BJP, foreseeing a decisive victory akin to previous elections in 2014 and 2019. He reiterated the people's determination to propel the lotus symbol to victory, securing over 400 seats and paving the way for a developed India under PM Modi's leadership.

Meanwhile, Chidambaram's assurance of repealing the CAA under the potential India alliance government drew criticism from Shah, who reaffirmed the BJP's commitment to uphold the law. Despite Chidambaram's pledge, Shah remained steadfast in the BJP's vision for a stronger and more inclusive India, driven by progressive policies and decisive leadership.
