Taiwan experiences a series of earthquakes, causing alarm among residents. Get the latest updates on the seismic activity in Taiwan and its impact.

The ground beneath Taiwan trembled as a series of earthquakes rattled the island overnight, causing panic among residents. Reports indicate that more than 80 tremors were felt along Taiwan's east coast from Monday night into early Tuesday morning. The most intense quake measured 6.3 on the Richter scale and caused buildings to sway in the capital city of Taipei.

The epicenter of the seismic activity was located in the rural eastern county of Hualien, the same area where a devastating magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck on April 3, claiming at least 14 lives. Since then, Taiwan has experienced numerous aftershocks. On Tuesday morning, the Hualien Fire Department reported that a hotel previously damaged during the April 3 quake, which had ceased operations, now appeared to be tilting slightly.
