The epicenter of the seismic activity was located in the rural eastern county of Hualien, the same area where a devastating magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck on April 3, claiming at least 14 lives. Since then, Taiwan has experienced numerous aftershocks. On Tuesday morning, the Hualien Fire Department reported that a hotel previously damaged during the April 3 quake, which had ceased operations, now appeared to be tilting slightly.
