Love Story Turns Sour Man Arrested 40 Years After Marriage

Discover the astonishing tale of Dawood Bandu Khan, arrested after 40 years for a love-turned-tragedy. Follow the twists of his teenage romance, marriage, and fugitive status as Mumbai Police unravel the past.

In a surprising turn of events, a love story that blossomed four decades ago has resurfaced, leading to the arrest of a 70-year-old man, Dawood Bandu Khan. What started as a teenage romance in 1984 took a tumultuous turn when Khan, then 30, was accused of sexual harassment by the mother of his 17-year-old girlfriend. However, the narrative took an unexpected twist when Khan and the girl tied the knot after she reached adulthood. Yet, Khan's failure to inform the authorities about their marriage and reconciliation with his mother-in-law has now come back to haunt him.

Recently, Mumbai Police apprehended Khan in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, where he had been living as a fugitive for the past 40 years. The charges against Khan stem from a case of kidnapping and rape filed by his mother-in-law in 1984. Despite Khan's subsequent marriage to the girl, his failure to appear in court led to him being declared a fugitive in January 2020. With both his wife and mother-in-law no longer alive, Khan now faces the daunting task of navigating a sexual harassment case alone.

The saga began when Khan and his girlfriend, residents of Mumbai's VP Road area, found themselves entangled in a legal quagmire due to their age gap and societal disapproval. Khan, a goldsmith by profession, found himself on the wrong side of the law after the girl's mother lodged a complaint with the DB Marg police. However, Khan's release on bail allowed the couple to eventually marry, albeit without legal formalities.

Crucially, Khan's decision to relocate to Agra without informing the authorities of their marriage proved to be his undoing. As the court continued to summon him, Khan's absence led to him being labeled a fugitive. It was only recently, during a special police operation ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, that Khan's whereabouts came to light. Through meticulous detective work, police were able to trace Khan to Agra, where he had summoned a chef for his son's wedding.

Khan's arrest has reignited debates surrounding the complexities of love and the long arm of the law. While Khan awaits further legal proceedings, his case serves as a cautionary tale, reminding individuals of the importance of adhering to legal protocols, even in matters of the heart.
