it is important to read or listen to the story of Apara Ekadashi during the worship of Lord Vishnu. Let's delve into the significance of Apara Ekadashi, the fasting story, and the puja muhurta and parana times.

Story of Apara Ekadashi Fast

Lord Krishna narrated the glory of the Jyeshtha Krishna Ekadashi fast to Dharmaraj Yudhishthira. He explained that this fast is known as Apara Ekadashi or Achala Ekadashi. Observing this fast grants freedom from Brahmahatya and ghostly existence, ultimately leading to salvation by the grace of Lord Vishnu.

Once, there was a king named Mahidhwaj, who had a sinful younger brother named Vajradhwaj. Out of malice, Vajradhwaj killed Mahidhwaj and buried his body under a peepal tree in the forest. Consequently, Mahidhwaj's spirit became a ghost and haunted the area.

One day, sage Dhoumya passed by the tree and perceived the ghost's past through his penance. To liberate the ghost, he observed the Apara Ekadashi fast and performed rituals, dedicating the virtues of his fast to the ghost. Pleased by the sage's devotion, Lord Vishnu granted Mahidhwaj freedom from his ghostly existence, giving him a divine body and sending him to heaven.

Thus, those who observe the Apara Ekadashi fast and worship with devotion receive the benefits of virtue and ultimately attain salvation by Lord Vishnu's grace.
