ED Investigates Land Scam in Ranchi, Jharkhand

In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated a thorough investigation into a major land scam in Jharkhand’s capital, Ranchi. The investigation, spearheaded by a dedicated ED team, focuses on gathering critical information from the National Information Center (NIC) to uncover the depths of the fraudulent activities.
Involvement of Land Dealer Kamlesh Singh
On Thursday, the ED team conducted a raid at the NIC office. This operation is intricately linked to the land grabbing case involving Kamlesh Kumar Singh, a prominent land dealer. The case came to light following complaints from approximately 50 residents of Chama village in Kanke. The villagers alleged that Kamlesh Singh had forcibly acquired their land, prompting the ED to take swift action. On Wednesday, July 10, the ED team visited Chama village to commence their investigation.
Construction Work Halted in Chama Village
Following interactions with the villagers, ED officials halted ongoing construction activities in Chama village. The officials then proceeded to the Kanke Zonal Office, where they meticulously examined relevant documents. Several critical documents were seized and taken into custody. Additionally, the mobile phones of the CO (Zone Officer) and CI (Zone Inspector) of Kanke were scrutinized, revealing crucial information about monetary transactions.
Seizure of Mobile Phones
The ED team uncovered substantial evidence of financial dealings between the two officers, leading to the confiscation of their mobile phones. The investigation into land transactions, aided by fraudulent documents, revealed Kamlesh Kumar Singh’s extensive involvement in the illegal activities.
Significant Recoveries from Kamlesh Singh’s Hideout
Kamlesh Kumar Singh was summoned to the ED office in Ranchi for questioning, but he failed to comply with the notice. Subsequently, on June 21, ED officials conducted raids at his hideouts. During these raids, the agency recovered Rs 1 crore in cash and 100 cartridges from his flat in Chandni Chowk, Kanke. This substantial seizure underscored the severity of the scam and Kamlesh Singh’s involvement. Following these findings, the ED requested an FIR against him under the Arms Act, which was duly registered at Kanke police station.
