This assertion has been corroborated by several passengers. One passenger, who was traveling to Hajipur, stated, “I heard a mild explosion followed by a strong jolt, and then the coaches derailed.”

The aftermath of the derailment was chaotic, with people’s briefcases and luggage scattered along the tracks. Survivors, in a state of panic, were seen sitting beside the tracks or desperately searching for their loved ones. The primary concern for those who survived was the safety and well-being of their companions. Some passengers had been resting after lunch, while others were preparing to disembark at the upcoming station. The derailment occurred suddenly in the Motiganj area, causing widespread panic and confusion among the passengers.

Passenger Accounts

Mani Tiwari, a passenger traveling from Chandigarh to Siwan, recounted his experience: “We were traveling from Chandigarh to Siwan. I had seat numbers 10 and 16 in coach B-1. Suddenly, the train derailed, causing the train to overturn and injuring many people.”

Another passenger, 35-year-old Manish Tiwari, who was traveling in coach B2, described the incident: “I was sitting on my seat near the window when I heard a loud sound and felt a jolt, causing me to fall down.”

High-Level Investigation and Compensation

In response to the accident, the Railway Ministry has announced a high-level investigation to uncover the cause of the derailment. Officials are keen to understand the circumstances leading up to the incident and are taking the loco pilot’s report of an explosion seriously.
