Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi visits Sayedpura, Surat, following a stone-pelting incident on a Ganesh pandal, pledging swift action.

In a swift response to the incident of stone pelting on a Ganesh pandal in the Sayedpura area of Surat earlier today, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi made a prompt visit to the site. The incident, which occurred amid Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, sparked concern among local residents and devotees, who were present at the pandal to offer their prayers.

Minister Sanghavi’s Assurance to the Public

Arriving at the scene, Minister Harsh Sanghavi met with police officials and community members to assess the situation firsthand. He assured the local community that the state government is committed to maintaining law and order, especially during such significant religious festivities. “We are taking this incident very seriously,” he stated. “Swift action will be taken against those involved in this act of violence. The peace and harmony of Surat must be preserved at all costs.”

Minister Sanghavi’s visit to the Ganesh pandal came as an immediate response to reports of a group allegedly pelting stones at the pandal during aarti, a Hindu religious ritual. While no casualties were reported, the incident caused considerable panic among devotees, many of whom were gathered with their families for the festival.

Police Begin Investigation

The Gujarat Police have already launched an investigation into the stone-pelting incident. Local authorities have increased surveillance and patrolling in the Sayedpura area to prevent any further disturbances. Initial reports suggest that a few unidentified miscreants were involved, and efforts are underway to identify them through CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts.

The local police, under the guidance of Surat Police Commissioner, have formed special teams to probe the matter. Speaking to the media, a senior police official said, “We have deployed additional forces in the area and are conducting a thorough investigation to ensure such incidents do not recur. We urge citizens to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.”

Call for Community Harmony

Community leaders and local representatives have condemned the incident, urging people to maintain peace and not let such actions disrupt the spirit of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Several local leaders have reached out to the affected pandal organizers to extend their support and solidarity. They have also appealed for calm and requested that citizens refrain from circulating unverified information that could escalate tensions.

Minister Sanghavi emphasized the importance of unity during the festive season, stating, “Gujarat is known for its communal harmony and brotherhood. We cannot allow the actions of a few to create discord among communities. We must stand united and show that we are stronger together.”

Reinforced Security Measures During Festivities

In light of the incident, the state government has decided to reinforce security measures at all public gatherings and pandals across Gujarat. Additional police personnel will be deployed at key locations to ensure the safety of citizens and to maintain order throughout the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. The Home Minister has instructed the authorities to stay vigilant and to act promptly in the face of any potential threats.

As the investigation continues, the residents of Surat hope for a quick resolution and the restoration of peace in their community. The incident has highlighted the importance of vigilance and unity during times of celebration, reminding everyone of the need to stand together against any form of violence or disruption.
