The US State Department says, 'The United States shares the view with other observers that these elections were not free or fair. We also regret that not all parties participated. America believes that the Awami League Party has won most of the seats in the parliamentary elections held on January 7.

Director General B Narayanan and Principal Secretary Mohammad Omar, led by Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Dharmendra Sharma, visited Bangladesh as observers for the 12th parliamentary elections.
