Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accompanied by his wife Sonal Shah, visited the renowned Lalbaugcha Raja Ganesh pandal in Mumbai today to offer prayers and seek blessings from Lord Ganesh. The couple performed a traditional ‘darshan’ of the deity, which is revered as one of the most significant and iconic representations of Lord Ganesh during the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Maharashtra.

The Lalbaugcha Raja is known to attract millions of devotees every year, with people from all over India and abroad coming to Mumbai to witness the grandeur of the Ganesh idol and offer their prayers. Amit Shah’s visit to the pandal was marked by a warm welcome from the organizers and a large crowd of devotees who had gathered to catch a glimpse of the senior leader.

A Spiritual Start to Ganesh Chaturthi

Amit Shah and Sonal Shah were seen participating in the aarti (prayer ceremony) and other rituals with great devotion, reflecting their deep spiritual connection and respect for the deity. The Home Minister was greeted by the temple authorities, who offered him the customary ‘tilak’ on his forehead as a mark of respect. The couple also received ‘prasad’ after the darshan, symbolizing blessings from Lord Ganesh for health, prosperity, and peace.

Speaking to the media after the visit, Amit Shah expressed his gratitude for being able to visit Lalbaugcha Raja during the auspicious Ganesh Chaturthi festival. “It is an honor to have the darshan of Lord Ganesh at Lalbaugcha Raja. I pray for the well-being and prosperity of every citizen of our country,” Shah said. He further added, “Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival that brings everyone together, and it is a time for unity, love, and celebration.”

Lalbaugcha Raja – A Symbol of Faith and Devotion

Lalbaugcha Raja, which is located in the heart of Mumbai, is considered one of the most popular Ganesh pandals in India. Established in 1934, it has become a significant cultural and religious landmark over the years. Devotees believe that the Ganesh idol at Lalbaugcha Raja is particularly benevolent and has the power to grant wishes. As a result, thousands of people, including celebrities, politicians, and common citizens, make it a point to visit the pandal during the 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.

Every year, the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, the organizing committee of the pandal, takes elaborate measures to ensure that devotees can have a smooth and safe darshan. This year, special arrangements were made to accommodate the large crowds expected during the festival, including increased security and COVID-19 safety protocols.

A Festival of Unity and Devotion

Ganesh Chaturthi, which marks the birth of Lord Ganesh, is celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm across Maharashtra and other parts of India. The festival begins with the installation of Ganesh idols in homes and public pandals, followed by daily prayers, cultural programs, and community events. The celebrations culminate with the immersion of the idols in water bodies, symbolizing the cycle of birth and rebirth.

As the festival progresses, more dignitaries and celebrities are expected to visit Lalbaugcha Raja and other popular Ganesh pandals across Mumbai. Amit Shah’s visit has set the tone for what promises to be a vibrant and spiritually enriching celebration, reflecting the deep-rooted cultural traditions of India.
