In fact, the board has accused the legendary cricketer Arjuna Ranatunga, who won the World Cup for Sri Lanka, that the cricketer has made a false and derogatory statement. SLC said, a letter of demand of Rs 2 billion has been sent to the new President of the National Sports Council, Arjuna Ranatunga. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board said in its statement, Ranatunga had made a false and derogatory statement in a recent interview, for which an emergency meeting of the Board Executive Committee was called. In which a decision was taken to take legal action against the former captain. The board said, Ranatunga spoke deliberately, with malicious intent, which has damaged the image of the board.

Arjuna Ranatunga won the World Cup for Sri Lanka, entered politics after retirement

Arjuna Ranatunga led Sri Lanka to the ICC ODI World Cup. Ranatunga played the best innings and won the World Cup for Sri Lanka in 1996. Ranatunga played 93 Tests and 269 ODIs for Sri Lanka. In which a total of 5105 runs were scored in Tests with the help of 4 centuries and 38 half-centuries. While scoring a total of 7456 runs in ODIs with the help of 4 centuries and 49 half-centuries. After retiring from international cricket in 2000, Ranatunga entered politics in 2001. From 2015 to 2019, Ranatunga was also the minister.
