Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Announces Major Cabinet Decisions Including Financial Aid and Infrastructure Projects
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announces approval of Rs 2 lakh aid for 25,238 beneficiaries under CMAAA scheme, along with funds for a stadium in Kokrajhar and a new flyover in Guwahati.
In a significant move aimed at providing financial relief and boosting infrastructure development, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced several key decisions taken during the state cabinet meeting held today. The cabinet has approved a list of 25,238 beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan (CMAAA) scheme, who will receive Rs 2 lakh each as a financial aid package.
Outlining the details of the CMAAA scheme, the Chief Minister stated, “Today’s cabinet has approved 25,238 beneficiaries under the CMAAA scheme, and they will get Rs 2 lakh each. They will not have to return Rs 1 lakh, which is a subsidy, and the remaining Rs 1 lakh is an interest-free loan for five years.” He further elaborated that the distribution of the approved amount to the newly selected beneficiaries would commence from November 3.
Significant Financial Assistance for Beneficiaries
The CMAAA scheme, which aims to empower economically vulnerable sections of the state, provides a total aid of Rs 2 lakh to each beneficiary. The assistance is split into two parts: Rs 1 lakh provided as a subsidy, which does not require repayment, and another Rs 1 lakh extended as an interest-free loan for a period of five years. This initiative is expected to offer substantial relief to thousands of families across Assam, enabling them to achieve self-reliance.
“Our government is committed to supporting the people of Assam in their journey towards self-sufficiency,” Sarma added, emphasizing the scheme’s significance in promoting economic independence among the state’s population. The beneficiaries, who have been carefully selected based on their financial needs, will start receiving the aid beginning November 3, bringing much-needed support to those affected by economic challenges.
Approval of Infrastructure Projects
In addition to the financial aid under the CMAAA scheme, the cabinet also approved two major infrastructure projects aimed at bolstering the state’s development. The cabinet has sanctioned Rs 107 crore for the construction of a new stadium in Kokrajhar, which is expected to provide a significant boost to sports infrastructure in the region. The new stadium will cater to various sports and recreational activities, promoting local talent and encouraging sports culture in the area.
Further, Rs 111 crore has been approved for the construction of a new flyover in Guwahati, Assam’s largest city and commercial hub. This new infrastructure project is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve connectivity within the city, contributing to smoother and more efficient transportation. “Today’s cabinet has approved Rs 107 crore for one stadium in Kokrajhar, and Rs 111 crore for a new flyover in Guwahati,” the Chief Minister confirmed.
Focus on Development and Welfare
The recent decisions taken by the Assam cabinet reflect the government’s commitment to development and welfare in the state. These measures are aimed at not only providing direct financial support to those in need but also improving the state’s infrastructure to facilitate growth and economic activity. By approving these significant projects and aid packages, the Assam government seeks to create a more self-reliant and prosperous state.
The announcements have been welcomed by various sections of society, especially the beneficiaries of the CMAAA scheme, who now look forward to receiving the much-needed financial assistance. The infrastructure projects are also expected to generate employment opportunities and contribute to the overall growth and development of Assam.
