Assam Flood: Situation serious due to flood in Assam, 29 thousand people badly affected in six districts

In Lakhimpur alone, 23,516 people have been affected by the floods, including 1215 children.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said on Thursday that the flood situation in Assam is serious and around 29,000 people in six districts have been badly affected. The Disaster Management Authority said that it has been raining continuously for the past several days in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, due to which the water level of many rivers has increased. 25 villages have been submerged in flood water.

Lakhimpur district most affected

According to the Disaster Management Authority, the villages that have been affected by the floods include Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Chachar, Nalbari and villages in Kamrup district. Due to flood water, 215.57 hectare crop has been submerged in water. Lakhimpur district has been worst affected by the floods. In Lakhimpur alone, 23,516 people have been affected by the floods, including 1215 children. The administration has set up three relief centers in Lakhimpur, where flood-affected people have been kept.

Many roads and embankments destroyed

Rescue teams have been deployed to rescue people in the flood-affected areas. Affected are 6307 animals, including poultry. Four embankments have been damaged due to flood water and many roads have also been destroyed in Dhemai, Biswanath, Goalpara and Lakhimpur districts. There were also reports of landslides due to rain in Chachar and Kamrup districts.
