All the big stalwarts associated with Rajya Sabha including BJP President JP Nadda will be seen in the Lok Sabha election fray. The party has decided to field most of such veterans from their native states. There is talk of Nadda contesting the elections from his home state Himachal Pradesh. This will be the first Lok Sabha election for Nadda, a three-time MLA and going to complete his second term in the Rajya Sabha.

Party sources say that the entry of Rajya Sabha veterans into the fray will create an environment in favor of BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. That is because many senior ministers in the current Modi government are members of the Rajya Sabha. These ministers along with many senior leaders were already given three options to indicate their preferred Lok Sabha seat. Most of the ministers and MPs have informed the party leadership about this.

In fact, the party has made a policy of not giving more than two terms to a leader in the Rajya Sabha. Under this policy, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was not given a Rajya Sabha ticket when he was a minister in the central government. Party sources say that if Nadda contests the Lok Sabha elections, it will send a positive message towards this policy. It is noteworthy that this is Nadda's second term in Rajya Sabha. His tenure is ending this year.

Many ministers have expressed their desire to contest elections from New Delhi seat. There are many high profile ministers among them. However, the leadership wants the high profile minister to contest elections from his native state. Especially such ministers whose party organization in their native state is weak. The party leadership believes that having these veterans contest the Lok Sabha elections in their native state will strengthen the party organization.
