BJP announces 18 candidates from 9 states, Nirmala Sitharaman will contest from Karnataka

BJP has announced 18 candidates for the Rajya Sabha.

Rajya Sabha Election 2022: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced 16 candidates for Rajya Sabha. The party has fielded Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman from Karnataka and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal as its candidate from Maharashtra. The party on Sunday announced its 18 candidates from 9 states (Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Bihar and Haryana). 5 of them are women.

After getting the approval of the BJP's Central Election Committee, the party announced its candidates for the biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha 2022. Kavita Patidar has been made a candidate from Madhya Pradesh. The BJP has fielded Nirmala Sitharaman and Jaggesh from Karnataka. Piyush Goyal and Dr. Anil Sukhdevrao Bonde will be the BJP candidates from Maharashtra, while Ghanshyam Tiwari has been given ticket by the party from Rajasthan.

BJP has announced maximum 6 candidates from Uttar Pradesh. The names of those who have got Rajya Sabha ticket are Dr. Laxmikant Bajpai, Dr. Radha Mohan Agarwal, Surendra Singh Nagar, Baburam Nishad, Darshana Singh, Sangeeta Yadav. Dr. Kalpana Saini has been given ticket from Uttarakhand. In Bihar, BJP has given two candidates. Their names are Satish Chandra Dubey and Shambhu Sharan Patel. Krishan Lal Panwar has been given ticket from Haryana. Later BJP released another list. In this, Dhananjay Mahadik from Maharashtra and Aditya Sahu from Jharkhand have been made the candidates of Rajya Sabha.

Last date for nomination is 31st May

It is noteworthy that elections for 57 seats in 15 states are to be held on June 10. Uttar Pradesh has the maximum number of 11 seats being vacant. BJP has fielded its candidates in 6 of these seats. May 31 is the last date for filing nominations. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on June 1. By June 3, candidates will be able to withdraw their names. Voting will be held on June 10 from 9 am to 4 pm. After this, the counting of votes will start from 5 pm on June 10 itself.

4 in Andhra Pradesh, 5 in Bihar, 2-2 in Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Telangana and Jharkhand, 3-3 in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, 4-4 in Karnataka and Rajasthan, 6-6 in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, 11 in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Elections are being held for 1 seat.
