There is huge opposition to the Agneepath Military Recruitment Scheme of the Central Government in many states including Bihar, Jharkhand, UP. Here demonstrations are being held against the Agneepath scheme and some organizations have called for a Bharat Bandh on June 20. From the day the central government announced this scheme, protests started on the second day. First of all, the voice of protest started from Bihar, then soon after seeing the protestors came out on the streets in many states of the country.

School-college closed in many states of the country in view of Bharat Bandh

Due to the Bharat Bandh on Monday, schools and colleges were closed due to security in many states. School Education and Literacy Secretary Rajesh Sharma said that in view of the Bharat Bandh called by some organizations, all schools in Jharkhand will remain closed on June 20. He further said that this decision has been taken as a precaution. Similarly, schools have also been closed in Bihar. It is known that the schools were to open after the summer vacation from June 20, but due to the way reports of violence and sabotage are coming, it was decided to close the school.

Kerala enhanced security

Amid the call for a Bharat Bandh on June 20, the Kerala Police said that the entire police force would be deployed to arrest anyone who caused damage to public property or indulged in violence. State Police Chief Anil Kant has issued guidelines to personnel against public violence and forced closure of commercial establishments. Kant has directed the district police chiefs to ensure the security of courts, offices of Kerala State Electricity Board, Transport Corporation and private buses and government offices on June 20.

The Eastern Railway on Sunday canceled 29 trains connecting Kolkata and other areas of West Bengal due to the ongoing protest against the 'Agneepath Scheme'. While in different parts of Bihar, seven trains running in Maharashtra's Bandra and Gujarat's Ahmedabad have been cancelled, while two trains have been cut short.

Five arrested for inciting youth to protest against Agneepath scheme

Police have arrested five people for allegedly inciting youths to agitate against the Agneepath scheme in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district. The police claim that the five arrested youths are workers of various political parties.

Applicants of Agneepath will have to give an affidavit

All applicants aspiring to join the Armed Forces under the Agneepath Scheme will have to give an undertaking that they have not been involved in any demonstration, arson or sabotage. The remarks of Lieutenant General Anil Puri, Additional Secretary in the Department of Military Affairs, came amid violent protests against the new scheme of recruitment in the three wings of the Army, the Air Force and the Navy.
