A 1,200-year-old black stone idol of Lord Vishnu was stolen from the Archaeological Survey of India's (ASI) premises in Patna. ASI, Patna informed about this to New Delhi office. Senior officer of the department Gautami Bhattacharya said, the incident took place on the intervening night of 25-26 December. In this regard, an FIR has been lodged at Vikram police station.

Meanwhile, thieves stole the Ashtadhatu idol of Sita and Lakshmana from the Ram Janaki temple at Kheda in East Champaran. This incident happened on Sunday. The priest of the temple told that when he reached the temple on Monday for cleaning, two idols were missing there.
