CRPF 137 Battalion organized a free medical camp in Udhampur under the Civic Action Programme (CAP), offering medicines, health awareness, and support to the local community.

In a significant initiative to enhance community well-being, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 137 Battalion organized a free medical camp at Government School Roun in Udhampur district today. The camp, held under the Civic Action Programme (CAP), aimed to provide essential healthcare services and medicines to local residents, with a special focus on children.

A Holistic Approach to Health and Awareness

The camp was presided over by Commandant Manoj Kumar Sikon, who emphasized the importance of such initiatives, particularly during the winter season when health issues are prevalent. “Considering the winter season, free medicines and cough syrup are being provided to young children. This is the third programme we have done under the CAP. Today’s camp offered test reports, ECG reports, and a wide range of free medicines to the local public,” said Sikon.

He further elaborated on the medicines being distributed, which included antacids, Vitamin E tablets, multivitamins, Vitamin B complex tablets, cough syrups, and sanitary pads. “We are also raising awareness about CRPF among children by involving them in this programme. Health-related awareness is being spread so locals can better take care of their health,” he added.

Medical Expertise at the Forefront

The event saw active participation from the CRPF’s medical team, led by Medical Officer Dr. Manish. Speaking about the specific health challenges faced by the community during winter, he said, “Fog days are coming soon during which respiratory patients suffer a lot. For this purpose, we are nebulizing them and providing respiratory pumps as well. School children often suffer from worms in the stomach, for which we are giving syrups to the needful patients under the CAP.”

Dr. Manish highlighted the importance of preventive care and timely intervention, especially for vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly. He also stressed the significance of creating awareness about common health issues and the importance of maintaining good health practices.

Engaging the Community

The camp was not limited to just medical aid; it also served as an opportunity to foster stronger ties between the CRPF and the local community. By involving children in the programme, the event aimed to instill a sense of trust and awareness about the CRPF’s role beyond security duties.

Residents expressed their gratitude for the initiative, appreciating the CRPF’s commitment to addressing their healthcare needs. “Such camps are very helpful, especially in remote areas where access to healthcare is limited,” said one local attendee. Another parent remarked, “The free medicines and health tips we received today will go a long way in ensuring our family stays healthy during the winter.”

Winter-Related Health Challenges Addressed

With the onset of winter, the camp’s focus on respiratory health and seasonal illnesses was particularly timely. The distribution of cough syrups, nebulizers, and respiratory pumps addressed immediate concerns, while educational sessions on preventive measures helped raise awareness about maintaining health during colder months.

The camp also targeted common ailments among children, such as stomach worms, by providing deworming syrups. This proactive approach aims to reduce the prevalence of such issues, ensuring better overall health outcomes for the younger population.

Civic Action Programme: Bridging the Gap

The Civic Action Programme is a vital initiative of the CRPF, aimed at building trust and goodwill among communities through various developmental and welfare activities. By addressing essential needs such as healthcare, the programme seeks to foster a positive relationship between the force and the public.

Commandant Sikon noted, “The CAP is not just about providing aid; it’s about creating a bond with the community. Through these initiatives, we aim to show that the CRPF is here not only for their safety but also for their overall well-being.”

A Model for Community Outreach

The success of the medical camp underscores the potential of such initiatives in making a tangible impact on the lives of people in underserved areas. The CRPF’s approach of combining healthcare with awareness and community engagement serves as a model for other organizations seeking to contribute to public welfare.

Local authorities and residents alike have lauded the CRPF for their efforts, urging for more such programmes in the future. “This camp has set an example of how organizations can go beyond their primary roles to address the needs of the community,” said a local official.

A Step Towards Healthier Communities

The free medical camp conducted by the CRPF 137 Battalion in Udhampur stands as a testament to the force’s commitment to serving the community. By addressing immediate health concerns and spreading awareness about preventive care, the initiative has left a lasting impact on the lives of those who attended.

As the winter season progresses, such efforts will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of vulnerable populations. The CRPF’s dedication to holistic community service continues to strengthen its bond with the public, reaffirming its role as a protector and supporter of the people.
