CWG 2022: Nikhat Zareen gifts boxing gloves to PM Modi, Hima Das presented Assamese gamchha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited Indian players involved in the Commonwealth Games to his residence.

Indian athletes expressed their happiness at being felicitated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after a stellar performance at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Nikhat Zareen presented him with his boxing gloves and sprinter Hima Das presented an Assamese gamchha to the PM. PM Modi hosted the Indian contingent on Saturday at his residence to honor the players. Indian athletes put up a sensational performance this year in Birmingham, winning 61 medals including 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze.

Nikhat gifted boxing gloves

Nikhat tweeted, Feeling honored to have gifted the Boxing Gloves signed by all the boxers to Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sir. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. Had a great day with my fellow athletes who have made the nation proud. The world championship gold medalist star boxer won the gold medal in her weight category at the Games.

Hima wrote on her Twitter handle, "Excited after receiving blessings from our Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji on the basis of Commonwealth Games 2022. Had the privilege of presenting them with our traditional Gamcha wrapped with immense gratitude from all over Assam. Champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, who won the gold medal without breaking a sweat a year after her historic silver at the Tokyo Olympics, thanked the PM for his words of encouragement.
