The movement of wrestlers making serious allegations against WFI chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh started from Delhi's Jantar Mantar and reached Haridwar and is now taking a new turn.

Angry wrestlers including Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia reached Haridwar to throw their medals in the river Ganga after the wrestlers' tents and tents were uprooted from Delhi's Jantar Mantar. . January 18: Star Indian wrestlers including Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik sit on a dharna at Jantar Mantar against the WFI and its chief. Wrestlers accused the WFI president and other coaches of sexually abusing female athletes and threatening to kill them. After which the Sports Ministry has sought clarification from WFI and directed to file a reply within 72 hours.

January 19: Wrestlers meet Sports Ministry officials and are assured. After this, the wrestlers demanded to meet PM Modi and Home Minister Shah, then Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur first persuaded them to hold talks with him. The Sports Minister spoke in detail to the wrestlers in the meeting which lasted for four hours. During this, there was a demand for the formation of a neutral committee for investigation against the WFI chief.

January 20: The Sports Minister waits for the whole day at his residence to meet the wrestlers. But the wrestlers refused to come for further talks. Then in a press conference he is seen saying that he is happy with the outcome of the meeting and will fully cooperate with the inquiry committee and will also present evidence against the WFI chief. However, even during this, he demanded immediate removal of Brij Bhushan Saran from the post of WFI President. The Sports Minister assured that Singh would step aside from the day-to-day running of the WFI.

January 21: Wrestlers end their protest after getting assurance from the Sports Ministry.

January 23: An oversight committee was formed under the chairmanship of Olympian Mary Kom. However, expressing displeasure over the inclusion of Yogeshwar Dutt in this committee, the wrestlers demanded to include a member from their side in this committee. After this Babita Phogat was included in the panel on the request of the wrestlers.

January 24: Wrestlers said they were assured that they would be consulted before forming the five-member panel.

February 9: The inspection committee heard the complaints of women wrestlers. The wrestlers later requested a second hearing which was conducted by the Oversight Committee on 20 February.

20 February: While the Oversight Committee's probe was on, Bajrang, Vinesh, Ravi and Sakshi decided to skip the Ibrahim-Mustafa tournament - the second ranking series event of the year - from 23 February to 26 February. This was the second time he did this.

February 23: The inspection committee summons Brij Bhushan Saran and other witnesses named by the wrestlers to testify.

February 24: The committee continued questioning the witnesses.

March 21: Sports Ministry approves Bajrang and Vinesh's request for an international training camp under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme. While Bajrang has been cleared to train in Kyrgyzstan for 16 days, Vinesh has been given the go-ahead to train at the Olympic Preparatory Center in Spala, Poland, for 11 days. However, both refused to go for training despite completion of all formalities.

April 8: Speaking to sports broadcaster ESPN, Vinesh said that she decided to skip the overseas tour as she felt that tracking any developments regarding the investigation into complaints against the WFI president was more important than training.

April 9: The Asian Wrestling Championships begin in Astana, Kazakhstan, without Bajrang, Ravi or Vinesh leading the Indian challenge. All three did not qualify for the event after skipping the trials.

23 April: Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, his wife Sangeeta Phogat and Sakshi Malik return to Jantar Mantar to continue their protest against WFI and Brij Bhushan. The wrestlers accused Brij Bhushan of sexually assaulting seven female wrestlers, including a minor, and said that they had lodged a complaint with the Connaught Place police station in New Delhi two days ago, but the police have not yet registered an FIR.

April 24: The Sports Ministry in a letter to Indian Olympic Association (IOA) chief PT Usha said that WFI matters will be handled by an ad-hoc committee appointed by the IOA. The letter also states that the election to be held on May 7 was declared void and the Monitoring Committee, which had submitted its report, would cease to exist. PT Usha also said that the IOA Executive Council meeting will be held on April 27 to discuss the future strategy.

April 25: Supreme Court agrees to hear a petition by wrestlers seeking registration of an FIR against Brij Bhushan on allegations of sexual harassment by female wrestlers.

April 26: Protesting wrestlers demand intervention of PM Modi and Minister of Women and Child Development, citing inaction of the investigating officers.

April 27: The IOA constituted a three-member ad-hoc committee to handle the day-to-day affairs of the WFI and conduct its elections within the next 45 days. The members of the committee were informed about Suma Shirur, Bhupendra Singh Bajwa and a retired High Court Justice. Meanwhile, PT Usha condemned the protest regarding the attitude of the wrestlers.

April 29- May 1: Political leaders including AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi go to Jantar Mantar to support the wrestlers, turning the protest into a political event.

May 4: The Supreme Court disposed of the petition filed by women wrestlers against Brij Bhushan to go to the lower court.

Then the protesting wrestlers said that they do not trust the court. That's why we will invite khap panchayats to come with us.

May 7: Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait joined the wrestlers at Jantar Mantar.

May 23: Wrestlers took out a candlelight march. Khap leaders joined the protest.

May 28: Wrestlers plan to march and protest in front of the new Parliament despite Section 144 being imposed in the area. Delhi Police clamped down on the marching wrestlers, detained them.

May 30: Wrestlers reached Haridwar to immerse their medals in the Ganges.

Earlier, Brijbhushan Saran was also called for hearing. However, in April the wrestlers had demanded that they would not leave Jantar Mantar until an FIR was lodged against Brij Bhushan. He also said that he does not trust the Delhi Police and he only trusts the Supreme Court. After this, the police had registered two FIRs against President Brij Bhushan Saran Singh.
