The US military once again bombed the positions of Yemen's Houthi rebels on Saturday morning. Earlier on Friday, America, along with the British Army, had carried out massive air strikes against Houthi rebels at many places in Yemen. The attack on Saturday targeted Houthi rebel positions in the capital Sanaa.

America targeted 28 places

On Friday, in a joint attack by America and Britain, more than 60 positions of Houthi rebels were attacked in 28 places. Also, America has advised its merchant ships to stay away from the Red Sea for a few days. US President Joe Biden, while confirming the airstrike on the Houthis, had said that if the Houthi rebels do not stop targeting commercial ships, they could be targeted again. After the US attacks, there is a fear of increasing tension in West Asia, which is already struggling due to Israel-Hamas war.

Houthi rebels warned of retaliation

At the same time, after the US attacks, Houthi rebels have also warned of retaliatory action. Houthi army spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Sari has issued a statement saying that America will be punished for these attacks. America says that in the air strikes, those positions of Houthi rebels were targeted where there was not much population and especially the weapons, radar and important targets of Houthis were attacked. There is no possibility of many people dying in these attacks.

It is noteworthy that Iran-backed Houthi rebels had been targeting commercial ships passing through the Red Sea since the Israel-Hamas war. The US Navy had several times foiled drone and missile attacks by Houthi rebels. However, despite repeated warnings, Houthi rebels continued to target ships. Due to this, international shipping routes were being disrupted. This was the reason why America and its ally Britain on Friday opened heavy fire on the positions of Houthi rebels in Yemen.
