A day before the final, Rohit was asked during the pre-match press conference about the legacy he wants to leave as captain. To this the Hitman said, "Whether it was me or anyone else, even the previous captains, their role was to take Indian cricket forward and win more and more matches and win more and more championships." It will be the same for me too. I want to win the match. I want to win the championship. That's what you play for."
