According to the Meteorological Department, from today the minimum temperature will again start to decline.
On the first day of the new year i.e. Sunday, winter will once again haunt the whole of North India including the national capital, Punjab, Haryana. Although there was some respite from the cold in Delhi-NCR on Saturday due to sunshine in the day, but due to the change in weather due to western disturbance in the late evening, the highest temperature dropped. There is a possibility of a drop in the minimum temperature on Sunday morning, in many areas there will be fog in the morning. There has been snowfall on the mountains, due to which the winds will blow, then the chill will also increase.
According to the Regional Meteorological Center, New Delhi, the maximum temperature in Delhi on Saturday was one notch below normal at 19.7 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature was three notches above normal at 10.2 degree Celsius. For the last two days, the minimum temperature has remained around 10 degrees. At the same time, the maximum temperature is running around 20 degrees.
According to the Meteorological Department, from Sunday, the minimum temperature will start falling again. By January 3, the temperature is likely to reach four degrees, which will continue till January 6. A yellow alert has been issued for cold wave and cold days till January 6. This cold wave will continue in North West India, which will affect Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
Cold continues in Punjab, Haryana, Bathinda remains coldest: Cold wave continues in most areas of Punjab and Haryana.
Bathinda in Punjab was the coldest in the state with a minimum temperature of 3.5 degrees Celsius. In Amritsar, Friday's mercury dropped to 4.3 degrees. Chandigarh recorded a temperature of 7.1 degrees. Similarly, 6.6 degree Celsius was recorded in Hisar, 7.9 in Kaithal, 8.4 in Karnal and 8.9 degree Celsius in Ambala in Haryana.
Temperature dropped in many areas of Rajasthan, possibility of cold
According to the Meteorological Department, mercury dropped in many areas of Rajasthan including Jaipur, Bikaner and Bharatpur on Saturday. A drop of two to four degrees Celsius has been recorded in the minimum temperature. Phalodi recorded the lowest temperature of 4.4 degree Celsius on Friday night. In many areas including Bikaner, Jaipur, there was dense fog in the morning. The minimum temperature is likely to drop by two to three degrees in the next two days. Along with this, there will be dense fog in the western and northern regions of the state.
Some respite from cold in Kashmir
Many areas of Jammu and Kashmir have got respite from the severe cold and the minimum temperature has reached above the freezing point. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 0.4 degrees Celsius on Friday night, which is higher than 0.3 degrees the previous night. Pahalgam recorded minus 9 degrees Celsius and was the coldest place in the Union Territory. It was 8 degrees Celsius in Gulmarg. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain dry in most areas for the next few days. After that the minimum temperature may drop again.
