India Offers Support to Nepal After Devastating Floods

Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, conveys condolences and offers India’s assistance after recent floods in Nepal.
In the wake of the devastating floods that have recently struck Nepal, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, expressed India’s deep condolences and offered support to the Nepali government and its people. Addressing the media, Srivastava reiterated India’s readiness to provide assistance during this challenging time, as the neighboring countries reaffirmed their commitment to solidarity and cooperation.
Speaking at a press conference, Srivastava said, “I convey on our behalf and the Government of India, sincere condolences for the recent floods that have caused tremendous loss of lives and damage to the property. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote in a letter to KP (Sharma) Oli, the Prime Minister of Nepal, India stands in solidarity with the people of Nepal at this difficult time.”
India’s Commitment to Helping Nepal
The Indian Ambassador emphasized that India is ready to extend all possible assistance as requested by the Nepali government, particularly in relief and reconstruction efforts. The recent floods have caused widespread destruction, including the loss of lives and displacement of communities. In light of these tragic events, Srivastava highlighted the long-standing relationship between India and Nepal, grounded in cultural and historical ties, and underscored India’s willingness to stand by Nepal during this disaster.
Srivastava further added, “We are also ready to extend all possible assistance as required by the Government of Nepal for its relief and reconstruction efforts. We look forward, as in the past, to further cooperation in these efforts for our people.”
The ambassador’s statement echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier message to Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, in which Modi expressed his solidarity with the victims of the natural disaster. Modi, in his letter, reassured Nepal that India would provide unwavering support during the relief and rebuilding process, drawing attention to the shared resilience and cooperation that have marked the India-Nepal partnership for decades.
Extending Support in Relief Efforts
The floods, which have affected several parts of Nepal, have left communities devastated, with homes destroyed and large swathes of agricultural land submerged. The damage caused to infrastructure and livelihoods has further complicated the situation, with local authorities and international agencies mobilizing resources for immediate relief. India’s offer of assistance comes at a crucial time as the Nepali government seeks international aid to tackle the aftermath of the disaster.
India’s role in helping Nepal during times of crisis has been well established over the years, with both countries actively working together during natural disasters, including previous floods and earthquakes. The Indian government’s pledge to provide aid this time around reflects the depth of the bilateral relationship and the humanitarian commitment shared by both nations.
India-Nepal Relations Strengthened Through Crisis
The floods have presented yet another opportunity for the two countries to demonstrate their close ties, not only through official diplomatic channels but also at the grassroots level. Over the years, India and Nepal have consistently shown mutual support during moments of crisis, and Srivastava’s message of condolence and cooperation reinforced the strength of the bond between the two neighbors.
As rescue and relief efforts continue in Nepal, India remains poised to offer its expertise and resources. The ambassador’s remarks underscore India’s commitment to not only aiding Nepal in times of crisis but also building on the strong foundation of cooperation that has long defined the relationship between the two nations.
