Former Vice President of the National Commission for Minorities, Atif Rasheed, while replying to the tweet of American MP Ilhan Omar, who often spews venom against India, wrote that 'I come from the minority class of India but I want complete religious freedom and religious identity in Narendra Modi's India. I live freely with I also have equal rights to all the resources, I can say what I want to say and I can write what I want to write. You are showing wrong picture of India under your hate agenda. Stop spewing poison from your mouth.
What was Ilhan Omar's statement
Ilhan Umar wrote in a tweet that 'Religious minorities are suppressed in Prime Minister Modi's government. Violent Hindu nationalist groups are encouraged and journalists and human rights activists are targeted. I will not attend Modi's speech.
Another US MP Rashida Tlaib has also announced to boycott PM Modi's speech. Rashida wrote that 'It is extremely shameful that Modi is being given a platform in our national capital when he has a long history of human rights abuses. The targeting of Muslims and religious minorities and the censoring of the media are unacceptable. I will boycott Modi's address to the joint session.
