The Congress government in Karnataka has started preparations to withdraw the anti-conversion law brought during the BJP government. CT Ravi said that 'anti-conversion law was implemented in the BJP government to stop forced conversions. Today the Congress government is promoting forced conversions and in a way giving license to those people who entice people to convert. This should be stopped. CT Ravi said that I have spoken to the sadhus on this issue that now it is their responsibility to protect the Hindu society. I have appealed that a mahapanchayat should be called against this decision of the Congress government. There is a need to take direct action to protect the society.

What were the provisions of the anti-conversion law

Under Karnataka's anti-conversion law, misrepresentation, force, undue influence and inducement or coercion to convert from one religion to another were made illegal. Offenses under this law were cognizable and non-bailable, with provisions for strict punishment. In this law, the person found guilty had a provision of a fine of Rs 25,000 and imprisonment of three to five years. Along with this, there was a provision of imprisonment of three to 10 years and a fine of up to Rs.
