The monsoon is active across India with heavy rains affecting states including Maharashtra, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, UP, and Odisha. The Meteorological Department has issued rain alerts for various regions.

The monsoon season is in full swing across India, bringing heavy rainfall to several states, including Maharashtra. Mumbai, India’s financial capital, has been experiencing continuous heavy rains since Saturday. The Meteorological Department has issued rain alerts for the next three days for various areas, including the national capital, Delhi.

Rain Alert in Delhi and Surrounding Areas

The Meteorological Department has forecasted rainfall in Delhi starting Monday. Besides Delhi, hilly regions such as Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also expected to receive rain on Monday. Other states like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh are also on the list for potential rainfall.

Three-Day Rain Forecast in Delhi

Delhi has been experiencing humid and hot weather in recent days. The Meteorological Department predicts light rain in some parts of Delhi on Monday, with continuous rain expected from Monday to Wednesday. A yellow alert has been issued for these three days, indicating moderate to heavy rain.

High Alert in Mumbai Due to Heavy Rains

Maharashtra has been significantly affected by the onset of the monsoon, with heavy rains lashing multiple districts. Mumbai, in particular, has been severely impacted, experiencing heavy rainfall over the weekend, resulting in waterlogging on roads and flooding up to car bonnets. In response, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has instructed officials to remain on high alert. Schools and colleges in the area have been closed due to the persistent heavy rains.

Heavy Rain Alert in Uttarakhand

The Meteorological Department has also issued a heavy rain alert for Uttarakhand. Orange and yellow alerts have been issued for the Kumaon and Garhwal regions. Alerts are also in place for several other districts, including Dehradun and Pauri Nainital. The department warns that rainfall in the mountains will likely increase precipitation in the plains, with heavy rain expected on Monday.

Rain Havoc in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh has not been spared from the monsoon’s wrath. Over the last 24 hours, at least 11 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents across the state. Relief department officials reported an average rainfall of 7.3 mm in the last 24 hours, with 19 out of 75 districts receiving more rain. The weather department forecasts heavy rain in many districts of the state on Monday.

Heavy Rain Alert in Odisha

In Odisha, heavy rains have been attributed to a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, which crossed the coast near Chilika Lake. The state experienced heavy rainfall over the weekend, leading to the evacuation of at least 23 families to safer locations in Malkangiri district. The IMD predicts more rain over the next five days, with Chitrakonda in Malkangiri district recording the highest rainfall of 220.5 mm.

The monsoon season is bringing much-needed rain to various parts of India, but it also poses challenges due to flooding and waterlogging. The authorities are on high alert, and precautionary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of residents. As the rains continue, it is crucial for everyone to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
