Union Minister Raksha Khadse and Nepal Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak visit Tribhuvan University Education Hospital in Kathmandu to meet the survivors of a tragic bus accident in Tanahun district, Nepal. At least 27 Indians, all from Maharashtra, were killed, and 16 others injured in the incident.

A tragic bus accident in Nepal has claimed the lives of at least 27 Indian tourists, all from Maharashtra, and left 16 others injured. The incident occurred yesterday when the bus they were traveling in veered off the Prithvi Highway and plunged into the Marsyangdi River in the Aanboo Kaireni area of Tanahun district. The group of tourists was on a pilgrimage tour, visiting various religious sites in Nepal when the unfortunate event took place.

In the wake of this tragedy, Union Minister Raksha Khadse, along with Nepal’s Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, visited the Tribhuvan University Education Hospital in Kathmandu earlier today. The ministers met with the injured survivors, offering them solace and assuring them of all possible assistance from both the Indian and Nepali governments. The visit was aimed at coordinating relief efforts and ensuring that the victims receive the best possible medical care.

The bus, which was carrying a total of 43 passengers, skidded off the highway in treacherous conditions, resulting in a catastrophic fall into the river below. The accident site is known for its narrow roads and sharp turns, making it particularly dangerous during the monsoon season when roads become slippery. Rescue operations were immediately launched by local authorities, with the Nepal Army, police, and local volunteers all contributing to the efforts to save lives.

The survivors were rushed to the Tribhuvan University Education Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment for their injuries. Some of the injured are reported to be in critical condition, requiring intensive care. The Indian Embassy in Nepal has been actively involved in providing assistance to the victims and their families, ensuring that the necessary arrangements are made for the transportation of the deceased back to India.

Union Minister Khadse, while speaking to the media at the hospital, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the families of the victims. She emphasized the need for stricter safety measures on mountainous roads to prevent such tragedies in the future. The Indian government, she said, will work closely with Nepali authorities to provide all necessary support to the affected families.

Nepal’s Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak also expressed his grief and assured that the Nepali government would do everything in its power to aid the victims and their families. He acknowledged the challenges of road safety in Nepal’s difficult terrain and stated that the government would review and enhance safety protocols to avoid future accidents.

This incident has once again highlighted the dangers associated with road travel in the mountainous regions of Nepal, where accidents are not uncommon due to the challenging landscape and weather conditions. As the rescue and relief operations continue, both Indian and Nepali authorities are working together to provide the necessary support to the survivors and ensure the safe return of the bodies of the deceased to their families in Maharashtra.

The Indian government has also issued a travel advisory, urging citizens to exercise caution while traveling in Nepal, especially during the monsoon season. The focus now shifts to providing the injured with the medical care they need and ensuring that the families of those who lost their lives receive the support they require during this difficult time.
