Pakistan: Imran Khan's trouble increased in Jinnah House attack case, JIT called for questioning today

The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) constituted to investigate the violent incidents on May 9 has summoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan for questioning.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Imran Khan's trouble may increase in the case of attack on Jinnah House in Lahore on May 9. According to media reports, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) constituted to investigate the incidents of violence and arson at Jinnah House (Corps Commander's residence) and Military Tower has summoned former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan for questioning today.
According to Pak media, the JIT headed by DIG Kamran Adil has asked Imran Khan to appear before the DIG Investigation Office at Qila Gujjar Singh, Lahore. The former Prime Minister will be questioned regarding the incidents of arson and sabotage that took place on May 9.
The JIT is probing the role of Imran Khan in the May 9 incidents. The Punjab government has constituted ten separate JITs to investigate cases related to incidents of violence. Imran Khan's name has also been included in the cases registered in various police stations in connection with the violent incidents and allegations of Khan's involvement have been made.
Imran Khan was arrested on May 9 in the Al-Qadir Trust case. Khan's arrest was followed by violent protests by PTI workers in cities across the country including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan and Peshawar. During this, supporters of Imran Khan ransacked and set fire to military establishments. Later, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered the release of Imran Khan on bail. At present, Khan has got protection from arrest till June 2.
The media report quoted sources as claiming that after receiving the notice from the JIT, Imran Khan consulted with his legal team, but it is yet to be decided whether the PTI chairman will appear before the probe team.
Military trial approved on 16 including former PTI MP
Earlier, an anti-terrorism court had allowed 16 suspects, including a former PTI MP involved in the Jinnah House vandalism, to be handed over to the commanding officer for trial under military laws. He was arrested after the violent incidents of May 9. They have been named in two separate cases filed in connection with the attack.
