Red Sea: Major attack on US Navy and merchant ships by rebel boats, US Army accuses Iran of support

A case of major attack by rebel boats on American Navy and merchant ships has come to light. The US military has accused Iran of supporting the attackers.

US Army statement

According to media reports, an American chopper and ship were targeted in the southern Red Sea. In a statement issued by the US Central Command, it was said that the American container ship - MAERSK HANGZHOU was attacked on the morning of December 31, local time in Yemen's capital Sanaa. Four small boats belonging to Iran-backed Houthi rebels were attacked. Ammunition fired by Houthi rebels fell just 20 meters away from the American ship.

Houthi rebel attacks foiled

Earlier on Sunday, America attacked Houthi rebels in the Red Sea. The US Army has destroyed two anti-ship missiles. According to reports, Houthi rebels present in Yemen fired missiles targeting a container ship in the Red Sea. This is the second attack in three days, which America has foiled.
