Significance and Rituals of Putrada Ekadashi in Shravan 2024

Putrada Ekadashi 2024: Date and Auspicious Timings
According to the Panchang, the Ekadashi Tithi in the month of Shravan will commence on August 15 at 10:26 AM and will end on August 16 at 09:39 AM. As per the Udaya Tithi, the Putrada Ekadashi fast will be observed on Friday, August 16, 2024. It is considered auspicious to perform the Puja before 09:39 AM on this day. For married women, this fast is especially significant as they pray for the well-being, prosperity, and growth of their children.
Putrada Ekadashi Vrat Parana: Timings and Rituals
The Parana, or breaking of the fast, should be done on August 17, between 05:51 AM and 08:05 AM. After completing the fast, devotees are encouraged to perform charity and offer special items as per their devotion.
Putrada Ekadashi Puja Samagri (Materials)
For the Puja, devotees should gather the following items: an idol or image of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, a small wooden platform, a yellow cloth, fruits, flowers, cloves, mango leaves, coconut and betel nut, incense sticks, a lamp, ghee, yellow sandalwood paste, Akshat (uncooked rice), Kumkum, sweets, Tulsi leaves, Panchmeva (a mix of five dry fruits), and cosmetic items for the adornment of Goddess Lakshmi. These materials are essential for performing the Puja with devotion and purity.
Putrada Ekadashi Vrat Puja Vidhi (Procedure)
On the day of Putrada Ekadashi, devotees should wake up early during Brahma Muhurta, take a bath, and vow to observe the fast. After preparing the Puja area with a yellow cloth on the platform, the idols of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi are placed. The ritual begins with the abhishek (ceremonial bath) of Lord Vishnu, followed by offering a yellow cloth and adorning Goddess Lakshmi with sixteen cosmetic items. A ghee lamp is then lit, and offerings such as coriander prasad, Panchamrit, yellow fruits, and sweets are made to the deities. Worshiping both Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi is essential on this day to seek their blessings for prosperity and happiness.
