The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has claimed that security personnel at Jawaharlal Nehru University thrashed students on Monday for protesting on the campus, injuring the student union president and a visually impaired student.

The student organization affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh said that the students were protesting in campus alleging that they were not getting fellowship for a year. The ABVP said that at least 12 students were injured in the beating of the security personnel.

JNU's ABVP president Rohit Kumar said, "Today students gheraoed the administrative office over the issue of fellowship and scholarship. The students said that the university administration has been ignoring the demand for release of fellowships and scholarships for a long time. He alleged that the JNU administration had violently attacked the students to suppress the scholarship scam. The administration ordered the security personnel to beat up the students badly.

No case has been registered with the police yet

ABVP member Ambuj said, at least 12 students, including four girl students, were injured and are undergoing treatment. He said, on the orders of the administration, more than 12 students were injured in the attack of Cyclops. The security of Jawaharlal Nehru University has been given to a company named Cyclops. Meanwhile, a senior police officer said that neither PCR received any phone call in this regard nor any case was registered with Vasant Kunj police station. Appropriate action will be taken on receipt of the complaint, he said.
